Teen Payroll Spreadsheet
In this assignment I had to create a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet based on the information given to me in the activity. After imputting the data given, I had to insert formulas into the spreadsheet to calculate gross and net pay, determining the payroll of hourly workers. Technology skills that I used in this assignment included creating a spreadsheet in Excel, imputing and calculating formulas for gross pay, federal, social security, medicare and state taxes, pension and net pay and formatting the spreadsheet as directed. After finishing this assignment, I was able to gain an understanding of what the words "net and gross pay" mean along with how to calculate them in an Excel spreadsheet. I think I formatted this spreadsheet well, organizing and inserting my data and formulas as instructed. To improve my work for this activity I would have included some more formatting in the spreadsheet like borders around the data information and more colors to represent different categories.
Formula Functions Spreadsheet
This assignment required me to create a grade book to calculate student's grades for six exams. I had to insert all the data given to me in the directions and then from there I had to insert formulas to dertermine student's high and low averages, the class's average, the final average and the number of exams taken. Technology skills that I acquired in this activity included: calculating the final, lowest and highest averages, inserting a count formula to determine the number of exams taken, and formatting the spreadsheet with borders, colors, and a picture from clipart in the spreadsheet. By creating this spreadsheet I acquired new knowledge of how to insert formulas to determine the lowest, highest and final averages and how to insert a count formula in an Exel spreadsheet. I think I formatted this assignment well meeting all standards and including my own choice of a picture and colors to incorporate based on different categories. To improve upon my work, I would format my questions and answers differently at the bottom of my spreadsheet. I do not think the answers to the questions stand out enough from the question itself and therefore I would bold them or maybe change the font color of the answers.
Raises Spreadsheet
For this spreadsheet I had to use the "IF" formula to calculate what the employee pay raise would be according to certain standards. Technology skills that I used for this activity included creating a spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel, inserting data and formatting the data, changing colors and creating borders, imputing the IF formula to calculate employee's pay raise and inserting the sum function to add up certain values. After finishing this assignment, I learned how to calculate what a certain amount will be according to certain requirements or standards by using the IF function formula in the spreadsheet. I think I displayed all my data and formulas properly in this assignment, following all directions and adding font colors to the data. In order to improve upon this assignment I would add more formatting and color to the spreadsheet and I would organize my questions at the bottom of the sheet better in order to stand out. I would go about this by changing the position and font of each question and place them in a seperate sheet to help manage my space.
